Hi again thought I would write another post about last weekend. For those who don't know Labour day is a American Holiday that consists of a day of doing nothing to celebrate those who work. Basically it boils down to a longer weekend effectively a bank holiday. Anyway it was a good chance to do some fun stuff. Hit the jump to read more.
As I have already said in an earlier post I have Fridays off meaning the fun began then. In the evening of Friday we went to another baseball game this time against the Omaha Storm chasers. This was the last game of the season and Albuquerque went out in style taking an early lead in the first inning with two runs and then increasing this to nine in the second. The final score was 3-11 to Albuquerque so Omaha were completely thrashed. The game concluded with another fantastic firework display that if anything was more impressive than the first. Between innings as well this time we had a second mascot appear, BirdZerk! from Louisville Kentucky, who was very amusing to watch. Also at the game me and Matt shared the largest donut I have ever seen, it was about the size of our heads (Thanks to Matt for the pictures).

Saturday was the kickoff to UNM's American Football season with against Southern. We went into the game with little hope of a victory due to UNM's poor track record of only winning three games in the previous season. However we were pleasantly surprised as UNM won by a land slide with the final score being 66-21. American Football seems to have an equal amount of things to see between plays as baseball has if not more due to the constant presence of cheerleaders along the sidelines keeping the crowds hyped up. During half time one lucky member of the crowd even won a Ford Mustang. To keep us entertained at halftime the two universities marching bands played on the field. Southern's band was a lot better than ours and even danced to thriller as a group whilst playing it on their instruments unfortunately facing the other side of the stadium (see video and sorry for shakiness it was filmed on my phone).

On Sunday we headed up to Santa Fe for the day on the train. The views from the train were really good showcasing a surprising amount of green considering we are meant to be in a desert. Once in Santa Fe we wandered around looking at a couple of famous churches and the local artwork, most of which was ridiculously expensive. For lunch we went to the atomic grill which had a wide selection of beers (over 300) which was a shame as we are still not old enough to drink over here. The restaurant also had a sign that you would only find in America stating no guns were allowed inside. I also brought a caramel apple which is the most sickly sweet thing I have ever had as it was basically a apple dipped in fudge. I will create another post after this with some more pictures from this trip other than the ones below.

I spent Monday in contrast with the holiday working on various bits of homework that are due in this week which was a shame, although I did get a lay in for a change which was nice.
Anyway this concludes this post, I hope you enjoyed reading it. Comments as always are welcome if you want to suggest a way for me to improve these posts or want to ask something in particular about one of the things I've talked about. Just as a little teaser of things to come I'm signed up on a camping trip to the Grand Canyon next month so expect a post and some pictures from that. I will try to post again before that though depending on what I get up to.
I remember going to watch an American football game for the annual York vs Lancaster Roses tournament; I'm pretty sure the people running up and down the side with the markers were moving more than the actual players!
